The Association of Vanilla Exporters of Uganda (VANEX) brings together Vanilla Exporters in Uganda under one umbrella in order to promote the production of vanilla in Uganda for the long term benefit of the Ugandan vanilla industry. It also seeks to promote the sale of Ugandan vanilla worldwide. It was established in 2004 and is made up of the most prominent vanilla exporting companies in Uganda.

The over USD 70 million plant has been designed to meet the world’s most stringent regulatory standards. It sits on 12 acres of land located 12km east of Kampala- Uganda and has a built up area of 14,000 square meters.

The facility manufactures 80 million tablets a month and plans are underway to increase its production capacity. The facility produces complex molecules of various fixed dose medicines for the management of malaria and HIV/AIDS.

The goal of the design specifications for CiplaQCIL is to produce pharmaceutical products of the highest quality that have zero environmental impact, adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), all consistent with global, regional and local regulatory standards.

Tororo Cement Factory is located in the Eastern part of Uganda about 230Km from the Capital Kampala. It is 10Km before the Uganda/Kenya border town of Malaba. Along with cement, the company has diversified production lines for GCI Sheets, Colour Sheets, Wire Nails, Barbed wire, Chain Links and Construction Steel.

After an extensive feasibility study of Tororo Carbonate Limestone was carried out by Building Research Centers in U.K, Russia and Japan, it was decided that a cement factory be built in Tororo area to utilize the carbonate limestone as raw materials. The study outlined the steps to be taken to process the raw materials so that normal Portland cement could be produced. In December 1952, Uganda Cement Industry (UCI) LTD. was incorporated. It was later taken over by the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) in 1953.The ownership of Tororo Cement changed hands at the end of 1995 to the present owners under the Government Privatization Scheme.
